In Norway, a lawsuit has begun between bitcoiner Magnus Grenet, known under the pseudonym Hodlonaut, and self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto Craig Wright.
In 2019, Hodlonaut called Wright a fraudster due to the fact that he declared himself the creator of Bitcoin. Craig filed a lawsuit in oslo court to punish Grenet for defamation, but Magnus considers himself innocent and appeals to the right to free speech.
According to many members of the crypto community, Hodlonaut represents the interests of all bitcoiners in the legal battle against Wright. In this regard, activists raised money to defend Grenet in court, and nine experienced lawyers were on Wright’s side.
During the first hearing, Magnus’ lawyer Mary Michelbust presented several tweets by Craig in which he used a strong word, for example, calling his critics “losers”, “fraudsters” and “scum”. But it remains a mystery how Wright’s behavior can serve as an excuse for Hodlonaut’s publications.
In August, Craig managed to win a lawsuit against video blogger Peter McCormack, whom he caught slandering. McCormack was convicted but fined a nominal £1 because Wright could not prove that Peter’s actions caused him serious harm.
