Illegal cryptocurrency mining increases the risks of emergency power outages and poses a threat to fire safety
Since the beginning of 2022, more than 9 thousand units of mining equipment have been dismantled and removed from the CHPP of Baikalsk and the village of Ust-Ordynsky. This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Irkutsk region.
Among the negative consequences of illegal activities for the life and health of citizens, the authorities call the risks of emergency power outages, noise from the operation of equipment, a threat to fire safety.
For violation of fire safety, two mining companies from Baikalsk were brought to administrative responsibility and fined a total of 300 thousand rubles.
In Bratsk, administrative cases have been initiated against two hoa chairmen in connection with the placement of mining equipment in the attics of apartment buildings.
Since the beginning of 2022, energy supply organizations have sent over 400 lawsuits to recover from citizens using mining equipment. The courts made positive decisions in the amount of about 100 million rubles.
