The Russian customs service will begin to use the blockchain of the tax service as part of testing a single database of machine-readable powers of attorney
The customs service of the Russian Federation, in cooperation with the tax authorities, will begin to conduct electronic powers of attorney through the blockchain network. This was reported on the official website of the tax service.
As part of the experiment, the parties want to automate the control of the validity of powers of attorney through a single database of interested parties. The site, according to the tax office, will provide the opportunity to check powers of attorney in electronic documents.
“Thus, the new technology will speed up the process of decision-making by the customs authority regarding foreign trade operations,” the tax authorities say.
If the experiment is successful, the customs plans to fully automate the process of signing electronic documents. It is expected that by the end of 2022, the parties will see the results of the experiment.
For the first time, the editors wrote about blockchain powers of attorney at the end of November 2021. Then the head of the Federal Tax Service (FTS) Daniil Egorov said that the agency saw an opportunity to create a system capable of absorbing the electronic circulation of powers of attorney.
He also added that blockchain technology allows you to establish the rights to use powers of attorney in certain circles, which saves a person from bureaucracy. At the same time, the Federal Tax Service has long been testing solutions in the field of blockchain. Back in November 2020, the Federal Tax Service and the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation began to discuss the use of blockchain. It was argued that the technology would help eliminate the risks associated with inaccurate or irrelevant customer information.
Then the head of the Federal Tax Service noted that the distributed registry system is “good” for banks to check the history of preferential loans from customers. Most financial data is unstable over time, and when using a blockchain platform, it will be updated everywhere and at the same time, he stressed.
