Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said that in the future, the San Francisco-based payment company plans to consider the possibility of acquiring other crypto projects.
Garlinghouse added that Ripple has a “very strong balance sheet” and is at the stage of its growth, becoming more of a buyer than a seller.
I would say that cryptocurrency has seen significant growth and we are looking at many different segments of the crypto industry for growth.
Some of them, obviously, we will create within the country. The Carbon Credit Initiative is something we’ve launched internally, but we’ve invested in more than 30 or 40 companies in the crypto ecosystem and will continue to look for opportunities through external acquisitions as well.
Moreover, the CEO believes that the number of mergers and acquisitions will grow in the crypto space.
I think there’s going to be a spike. [слияний и поглощений] in the blockchain and crypto space. We haven’t seen it yet, but I think it’s possible in the future.
Garlinghouse added that Ripple is considering an initial public offering (IPO) after the completion of a lawsuit with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Interestingly, FTX CEO and co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried said last week that his company had committed more than $2 billion to fund investments in other firms.
