Chipotle will provide customers with the ability to use cryptocurrencies to pay for food at any of the 3,000 restaurants in the U.S. through the Flexa digital payment platform.
Like other fast-food chaines like Starbucks or Pizza Hut, Chipotle is trying to experiment with blockchain and cryptography to create an alternative way to serve customers. As part of this initiative, Chipotle has partnered with the Flexa platform, which will provide the technical implementation of the service.
Chipotle customers will be able to pay in 98 cryptocurrencies, including BTC and ETH. To do this, they need to pre-download the Gemini application or the SPEDN cryptocurrency wallet, where digital assets will be stored. Customers then need to use the app and terminal installed in the restaurant. The payment received from the client is immediately converted into US dollars.
Note that payments in cryptocurrency “penetrated” into gourmet restaurants. So, in March, the owner of the popular Maltese restaurant chain St. Paul’s Bay Marvin Gauci (Marvin Gauci) announced his readiness to accept payment in cryptocurrency.
