A weather forecast provider familiar to almost every smartphone owner has announced a partnership with blockchain service API3.
Accuweather – A major commercial weather data provider – announced cooperation with API3, in whose network a node has already been deployed. API3 – an oracle, or provider of data prepared especially for block chains. This allows Web API operators to access weather data on the network. Accuweather will give decentralized application operators (DApps) access to their own weather data through Airnode’s API3 infrastructure.
Paul Lentz, Senior Vice President of Accuweather, wrote in a message to Bitcoin.com:
The application and use of Accuweather weather data, independent of the ORACLE API, could have a long-term impact on a number of industries and even emerging markets. As one of the first major providers of weather data and forecasts to enter the blockchain space, we have a unique insight into market demand and use, which gives us a solid foundation as we explore new growth opportunities and how we can improve user service.
