The developers of the second-level solution for the Ethereum Optimism network began distributing OP management tokens to community members. The load was so great that the Optimism network began to fail.
There has not yet been an official announcement of the airdrop of OP tokens. The developers stressed that they are working on “providing more network capacity” before the official announcement.
Delays were recorded both in transactions and in remote procedure calls (RPCs). RPCs allow third-party applications to use optimism capabilities. For example, use the MetaMask wallet or other wallets, as well as interact with other blockchains. Therefore, users could not sell or buy OP tokens. The developers managed to solve the network problems in a few hours.
“We received a lesson and a lot of knowledge that will be applied in the second distribution of tokens,” the developers of Optimism wrote.
Recall that the right to participate in the distribution of OP management tokens will be given to cryptocurrency users who used the solution before March 25. In total, 231,000 addresses should participate in the airdrop – they will receive 214 million tokens (5% of the total). That is, on average, each user will receive 860 tokens. Earlier, the developers removed 17,000 cryptocurrency wallets from the lists of those registered for free token distribution.
