Blockchain security and data analytics company PeckShield has identified fraudsters sending “Wrapped LUNA 2.0” tokens to top Ethereum addresses. They simulate the re-release of LUNA, which will take place on Friday, May 27.
According to PeckShield’s warning, several recipients of the new tokens were Vitalik Buterin, Andreesen Horowitz, Three Arrows Capital and Justin Sun.
On Thursday, May 26, the tokens were sent to the Terra Deployer wallet from an anonymous address, then they came to well-known members of the crypto community to create the illusion of an official Distribution of Terra.
Terra’s actual plan includes a fork of the Terra blockchain and the release of an entirely new LUNA token. The old LUNA, which depreciated to zero after the UST lost its peg to the dollar earlier this month, will be renamed LUNC.
The new LUNA will be distributed to LUNC and UST holders based on a snapshot of the network. Users whose assets are stored on the addresses of crypto exchanges Binance or Huobi will also receive compensation.
Neither Terraform Labs nor LUNA Foundation Guard are whitelisted.
