According to State Duma Deputy Mikhail Delyagin, who heads the Committee on Economic Policy, the cryptoruble can be used to circumvent Western sanctions.
On the eve of the Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Olga Skorobogatova said that testing of the domestic digital currency will start in April 2023. Almost all major credit institutions are ready to take part in the token trials.
The first transactions in pilot mode on the platform of the Central Bank were implemented with the participation of banks earlier this year.
Delyagin recalled that the cryptoruble is the third form of cash.
The token is tied to a fiat ruble and can be used when exchanging for foreign currency.
The parliamentarian emphasized:
If we can convert Russian rubles into foreign currency, as well as non-cash rubles, albeit with some restrictions for us, then it is quite natural that the digital ruble will have the same functionality.
