The developers of the Ethereum wallet from MetaMask have entered into a partnership agreement with cybersecurity specialists from Asset Reality to identify hackers and return money to users.
MetaMask security expert Alex Herman said in an interview that the partnership with Asset Reality arose after the head of the operations department of MetaMask Jacob Kantele (Jacob Cantele) was disappointed in the existing cryptocurrency recovery services. The services, in his opinion, are mostly “empty programs” or outright fraud.
Herman added that the company has already increased the number of support staff to effectively help victims of scammers.
The new functionality is a section on the MetaMask website through which users can report assets lost as a result of a hacker attack and provide detailed information about how the hack occurred. After creating a request, a cybersecurity specialist from Asset Reality will contact the victim and take steps to return the cryptocurrency to the user.
Asset Reality CEO Aidan Larkin (Aidan Larkin) is confident that the new functionality will allow the victim of hacking to understand how the cyber attack occurred, and provide valuable data that will help to recover lost money. Asset Reality promises to use the data obtained, including for tracking NFT and warn sites that their platforms are used to trade stolen cryptocurrencies and tokens.
In 2021, the group Lossless returned the assets stolen from DeFi Cream Finance. Lossless said that it intends to create a tool for developers that will prevent hacks and will be able to identify vulnerabilities in the DeFi protocols.
