Novosibirsk Regional Electric Networks together with law enforcement agencies of the region during the raid discovered a mining farm, the damage from which exceeded 20 million rubles.
Specialists of JSC “RES” conducted a raid on May 24. It was also attended by employees of the prosecutor’s office of the Kalininsky district and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Novosibirsk region. During the raid, more than a hundred ASIC miners were found in “abandoned” containers and kiosks in the village of Pashino. The devices were connected to the electrical grid illegally.
“The theft of electricity was carried out on a truly industrial scale. According to the calculations of the specialists of JSC “RES”, the damage caused to the enterprise amounted to more than 20 million rubles, “the press release emphasizes.
At the moment, the police have initiated a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Causing especially large property damage to the owner or other owner by deception”. The devices were removed and the power cable cut off. Investigations and identification of the persons who own the equipment are ongoing. Those responsible could face up to five years in prison.
Earlier it was reported that one of the leaders of the detention center in the prison “Butyrka” organized an underground mining farm. The devices were placed in the premises of the prison’s psychiatric hospital.
