A cybersecurity specialist has warned 672,000 subscribers to NFT artist Mike Winkelman of an attack on their cryptocurrency wallets.
Blockchain security expert harry.ETH posted a warning about the phishing attack via Twitter from the creator of non-fungible tokens Mike Winkelmann.
Harry.ETH reported that winkelman’s page, known as BEEPLE, had been hacked. Hackers posted a phishing link on the artist’s compromised page to go to the supposedly official website, where you can register for the NFT draw. We are talking about the Louis The Game competition, in which the fashion designer Louis Vuitton (Louis Vuitton) commissioned BEEPLE to create an NFT series for the award to the winners.
Harry.ETH urged Winkelman’s 672,000 followers not to click on a phishing link and to warn other Twitter users not to fall victim to scammers. According to Harry.ETH, already several users who clicked on the phishing link have been subjected to a cyber attack and lost a total of 35 ETH worth about $ 71,000. So far, neither Mike Winkelman nor Twitter’s support team has confirmed the incident or reported on the action taken.
This week, representatives of the gaming blockchain project Axie Infinity reported that as a result of a cyber attack, attackers were able to hack into the project’s account on Discord and mark up fake messages there. In early May, unknown hackers posted a link to a phishing site on the channel of the largest trading platform of non-fungible tokens OpenSea. Last month, on the official account of the developers of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) on Instagram, unknown persons posted information about the distribution of tokens and stole 91 NFT from deceived users for $ 2.8 million.
