The public organization Bitcoin Argentina proposed to introduce lessons on bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in Argentine secondary schools to improve the financial literacy of students.
The organization Bitcoin Argentina is launching a project called “Schools and Bitcoin”, within the framework of which educational seminars on Bitcoin will be held in educational institutions of the country. The project is being launched in partnership with the humanitarian initiative “Built with Bitcoin” to let high school students learn about the possibilities of a new alternative financial system. They will be able to get acquainted with the basic principles of the Bitcoin network, as well as understand the difference between Bitcoin and traditional finance.
The head of Bitcoin Argentina Jimena Vallone (Jimena Vallone) said that earlier in the country a similar pilot project has already been launched. Argentine schoolchildren have shown great enthusiasm for learning about bitcoin and blockchain technology. According to her, this served as a “starting point” for expanding the project to 40 schools, and over time their number will increase. More than 4,000 high school students will be able to participate in the training seminars, and the classes and their content will be adapted for each school and region where these classes will be held.
Argentina is considered one of the countries with the highest level of adoption of cryptocurrencies in Latin America. This is due to the fact that many citizens are beginning to engage in cryptocurrency trading due to the high level of inflation, which reduces their purchasing power. According to February data from Deel, more and more Argentine freelancers accept bitcoin for payment.
At the beginning of the month, argentina’s largest banks, Banco Galicia and Brubank, provided their customers with the opportunity to trade cryptocurrencies. However, later the Central Bank of Argentina warned financial institutions against working with digital assets due to their high volatility.
