Mining data center operator BitRiver is considering preparing and filing a lawsuit against the U.S. Treasury because of the sanctions imposed on the company. BitRiver told RIA Novosti.
Representatives of the company believe that the accusations against it are “unsubstantiated” and harm its reputation:
“BitRiver is not a government agency, but a 100% private company that in no way helps Russia circumvent sanctions. BitRiver also intends to charge the U.S. Treasury Department with unfair competition and lobbying the U.S. mining industry for violating regulations WTO“.
Recall that in April, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on the BitRiver group of companies to combat potential Russian Federation sanctions evasion through cryptocurrency mining.
In comments to ForkLog, BitRiver founder and CEO Igor Runets said the U.S. actions should be seen as interference in the mining industry, “unfair competition and an attempt to change the global balance of power in favor of American companies.”
