Supporters of Astroport (ASTRO), one of Terra’s (LUNA) most popular DeFi blockchain ecosystem apps, discovered an app that was posing as Astroport.
According to a statement posted on Twitter by anonymous crypto developer and enthusiast @TheMoonMidas, scammers uploaded a fake Astroport app to a major e-commerce marketplace.
For the LUNA AND ASTRO community:
There is a FAKE Astroport app in the Google Play store. Do not download it. Please report the violation if you can.
The app pretends to be an official product of the Astroport team for Android smartphones and tablets. It displays the interface of the real Astroport app, but the program itself has nothing to do with it.
Most likely, this fake was created by scammers interested in stealing funds and private keys of Terra (LUNA) ecosystem members.
The crypto-enthusiast attached a screenshot of the application called “Astroport Swap” to his post and asked all supporters of Terra (LUNA) and Astroport (ASTRO) to inform the site administration about the violation through the appropriate function.
His Twitter followers confirmed the existence of the fake app and added that the Astroport (ASTRO) team never deployed mobile tools.
Astroport (ASTRO) is an integral tool for decentralized cryptocurrency exchanges (DEX) of the Terra (LUNA) ecosystem, “the meta version of Terra’s automated market maker.” The app’s popularity in the DeFi segment is steadily increasing: over the past six months, its total blocked value has increased almost 8-fold.
It is currently Terra’s third-largest protocol, surpassed only by such heavyweights as Anchor (ANC) and Lido Finance (LDO).
